One of the toughest things to do is to start looking around for your
"replacement" dog for Search and Rescue. This is the dog who is training to
take over for the older dog when they are ready to retire. As much as I tried
to convince myself that it was time to start looking at puppies, my heart just
wasn't in it, knowing that I was admitting to myself that Merak was aging. Then
I recieved a phone call offering me the opportunity of a lifetime. Thank you
Dermott Young (
Klaar Belgians
) for giving me the chance to own this special dog. He is proving that he can
do it all and then some.
After suffering increased pain with bleeding which was severly affecting his
working performance and 6 months of failed treatment, both holistically as well
as conventionally, Mickey was altered in September 2004 to relieve him from
chronic prostititis. To date, Mickey continues to be epilepsy free as do his
progeny.
